Self-defence - Some people seem to have the wrong impression that self-defence and karate are two different things.
People often ask me if I teach self-defence as well as karate. I try to explain to them that karate is self-defence.
Still it seems there is a lot of confusion over this. Self-defence courses may help a little at the time, but little and often can be

a dangerous thing, anyway 6 months down the road most of what you have learnt is soon forgotten. The bottom line is that there

are no shortcuts to learning good self-defence.

So how can I learn to defend myself quickly and efficiently you might ask!

 

Well if you are a women and live in the West Sussex area and want a women's only class, then I would recommend our ongoing

ladies self-defence classes. Otherwise the karate that we teach has everything for everybody, and has a wider range of practical

self-defence techniques compared to most other karate clubs, and you wont have to wait until you're a black belt to learn how to

defend yourself because we teach our students right from the very beginning how to apply their karate techniques effectively into

real life situations. We are able to do this because our chief instructor has been training for over 44 years. During that time he has

trained with some of the worlds top self-defence masters. His techniques have also been proven to work in real life situations. One

of his past students told him that his techniques actually saved his life from a knife attacker.

Along with the correct training, attitude, discipline, the other important ingredients listed below creates the total package. If you are

serious about learning karate then you must be willing to work hard and make some sort of ongoing commitment to your training.

This is not easy in today's society, but doing this will insure that you will always be proficient at self-defence while at the same

time keeping yourself mentally and physically fit throughout your life.

of empty-handed self-defence.

So Whats Involved In An Adults Class.

The Adults Programme in Sama is generally the same as the kids.
The Belt sequence and times between grades are the same.
Each lesson starts with a warm up of stretching etc, then the Instructors will run through the various moves, blocks and

echniques with the students. On each belt you are required to learn a new Kata - (Pattern of moves). In lessons

students will also get to practice their techniques on the focus mitt's and kick shields. Each lesson ends with a little

stamina - to prgressivly improve yourhealth and fitness.

The Sama Pay - As - You - Go System also applies to the adults as well, at a cost of £5.00 per lesson.
We at Sama give all adult students a 4 week trial before we ask you to sign up
for membership and Insurance and purchase a suit.
Suit's cost approx £25.00 Membership and Insurance Cost £30 per year.
