At Sama Southeast, we offer a dynamic range of children’s karate classes across Sussex and Kent, welcoming students as young as 4 years old. Our classes are designed to be engaging and fun, perfect for young learners. New members can join at any time and choose from a variety of classes scheduled after school, in the evenings, and on weekends.
Our extensive class schedule provides parents with the flexibility and convenience to fit their children’s karate training into busy family life. Additionally, we host gradings at two prominent locations: St. Johns Primary School in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and Henfield Leisure Centre in West Sussex

Please Note:
- All sessions must be pre-booked online for convenience and planning.
- Beginners are welcome to book up to 4 trial lessons before deciding to commit to a membership/licence and the required uniform for continued participation.
- On the day of your session, please arrive 15 minutes before the class start time.
- Dress your child in comfortable clothing suitable for exercise. All other equipment is provided by us.
- Each class lasts between 45 minutes to 1 hour until your child reaches their first grade (Red Belt). After achieving this milestone, they are eligible to attend 2-hour classes available at most of our venues.
It’s also safe and great fun.
Our fun exercise program is an open book, crafted from years of experience in engaging with children across various ages and skill levels. At the heart of the SAMA system, we transform what could be mundane exercises into enjoyable activities. This approach ensures children receive the full advantages of a comprehensive, healthy exercise regimen. Our program is designed to build a strong foundation for their future, fostering robust bones, muscular strength, and overall fitness
- HEALTH AND SAFETY – Our instructors are thoroughly trained in health and safety and are fully certified
- ENHANCED DBS CHECKED – All SAMA instructors have undergone Enhanced DBS checks, ensuring their suitability for working with children
- SAFEGUARDING – Our instructors have successfully completed Safeguarding training.
As the largest children’s karate group, we frequently encounter shy or reserved children, as well as those who have faced bullying, violence, or abuse. The transformation we witness in these children over a year or two is remarkable. The once-quiet kids begin volunteering for school concerts, and those who previously struggled with temper issues become calmer and more self-controlled. We also observe a notable improvement in their academic achievements. Parents consistently report enhanced school performance in their children, attributing it to increased attentiveness and discipline fostered through our program.

Furthermore, we emphasize the responsible use of karate skills, making it clear that they should not be used in school or casually. The Sama Organisation is committed to working closely with you and your child to provide a nurturing and educational environment.
Our successful approach has established us as the largest children’s karate group in the South of England. We proudly offer classes in hundreds of junior and primary schools, as well as in various leisure and community centers.

Class Bookings
Our class booking process is streamlined and user-friendly, accessible through our ‘BOOK IN CLASS’ online system. To provide flexibility and a chance for potential students to experience our classes, we offer up to 4 paid trial lessons before any commitment is required. This approach allows newcomers to get a real feel for the classes and decide if it’s the right fit for them before making a longer-term commitment.
